Acerca de Trillium Lake Sunrise - Little Crater Lake Photography Workshop I want to join Join photographer Hrach Hovhannisyan for a half-day photography workshop exploring two scenic mountain lakes in Oregon’s Mount Hood National Forest. We’ll begin early with a sunrise shoot at Trillium Lake, famous for its serene waters and postcard view of Mount Hood. Then we’ll make our way to the quiet and colorful Little Crater Lake for a second unique location that feels like a hidden gem. Itinerary Trillium Lake Sunrise Our first stop is Trillium Lake, located about an hour and a half from Portland near the town of Government Camp. This lake is known for its perfectly framed view of Mount Hood, the tallest peak in Oregon. On clear mornings, low fog and early light create magical reflections across the water. We'll explore different compositions from the lakeshore and nearby pathways, taking advantage of the soft light and peaceful atmosphere. Little Crater Lake After wrapping up our session at Trillium Lake, we’ll head to Little Crater Lake — a smaller, brilliantly blue spring-fed lake tucked away in the forest. While the access road can be bumpy, it’s worth the detour. This location offers calm surroundings, tall evergreens, and vibrant reflections — especially beautiful in fall or with morning light. It’s a great place to slow down and practice creative compositions. Additional Highlights Tips on working with fog, water reflections, and changing morning light. Guidance on lens choice, filters, and settings for serene lake scenes. A calm, scenic drive through Mount Hood National Forest. This workshop is ideal for both beginners and experienced photographers looking to expand their landscape portfolio. Recommended Gear and Outfit Wide-angle lens (at least 24mm, or even better, 16mm). ND (neutral density) filter for long exposures. Tripod (essential for low-light and reflection photography). Comfortable outdoor clothing and waterproof boots. A weatherproof jacket is recommended, especially in cooler seasons.
