During our trip we will be doing lots of very interesting and not difficult hiking, explore the nature and local villages, test local food, talk to local people, watch how Armenian famous bread lavash is being baked etc. We will see beautiful mountains, forests, waterfalls, lakes, many different ancient monasteries, castles, khachkars (cross-stones) etc. We will even have a 4x4 off-road day to a breathtaking high mountain plateau! Optional, you can have Zipline, horse riding and wine degustation if you want... Price includes: + All accommodation during the trip! Double/Twin rooms. Since 2017 living in the USA, working as a professional photographer, and organizing trips in Armenia and in the United States! During this trip, we will have a minivan bus (like a Mercedes Sprinter or similar) for our transportation, from airport to airport! Also, on one day, we will have 4x4 offroad vehicles! You must have Travel Insurance! Equipment and outfit: As Armenia is a mountainous country, we have big altitude changes and very diverse places (even though the country is small). So in May, the weather can be very changeable, in one place you can wear shorts and have a hot day hiking, 2 days later it can even snow a bit.. so please have both warm and light clothes, a raincoat, hiking poles, good hiking shoes, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, and a small backpack, probably max. 30L. And of course a water bottle. contact: info@hhimage.com Itinerary Day 1. Arrival to Yerevan, the Capital of Armenia (Zvartnots Int. Airport) - Transport to the hotel. Free day in Yerevan. Depending on each tripmate's arrival, we will arrange the transportation to be in 1 or 2 groups. Also, depending on the time when the whole group arrives, we might have a short briefing in Downtown Yerevan. Yerevan is really nice, especially when the weather is warm and everyone is out enjoying the city... The main highlight of the center is the Opera House, The Republic Square, Northern Avenue, Matenadaran Museum, the Mother Armenia statue, The Cascade stairways, etc. If the weather is clear, you can see mount Ararat from the top part of the Cascade! Overnight in a hotel in Yerevan. Day 2. The great trip begins! Our 1st stop will be Bjni village. It's one of the oldest villages in Armenia, located in the Hrazdan river valley. These two interesting churches are there and one of them is actually considered the smallest one in Armenia. Another great highlight is Bjni Fortress, dated 9-10th cent. After Bjni we will visit beautiful lake Sevan (the biggest in Armenia, located at an altitude of 1900m!), Sevan peninsula and Sevanavank monastery, after which we will head to the "Armenian Switzerland" town of Dilijan! There our 4x4 off-road vehicles will be waiting for us to take up high to the Dimac mountain plateau to enjoy some great views! Overnight will be at a very cool local BNB, a very comfortable, and hospitable place! The rooms there are like a real nice hotel room, and the homemade food is just amazing! Much better than in many restaurants! (Believe me, I've been there many times since 2012!!) Day 3. Hiking day! 1st part of the hiking is about 5km, 2.5-3 hours, 200m elevation gain,. 2nd part is about 4km, 250m elevation gain. We will visit Parz lake, from where we will start hour nice hiking through the forests and nice place till Gosh village, will visit Goshavank monastery, have some rest and then hike up to the Gosh lake! (those who will be tired, can wait for us in Gosh village, near our bus at Goshavank monastery, having some cold beer:)) And you will have possibilities to compare those two lakes, as both are in nice forests, but one has a tourist place nearby, a restaurant/hotel and many people, and the other (my favorite!) is pretty wild! The only to get to the 2nd one is either off-road driving or hiking! Overnight again in our favorite BNB in Dilijan (it will be your favorite, believe me! :) Day 4. Another cool adventurous day! Today we will visit Lastiver! One of the best places in Northern Armenia! It beautiful forestry gorge, with a waterfall, caves, and tiny tree-houses, we will do about 3 hours of hiking there (if it's rainy, the downhill to the gorge can be tricky, but fun:)! Don't forget your hiking poles and good hiking shoes for the whole trip!! Optional (not included in your package), if you like, you can have a Zipline or horse riding here as well, if we have time after our hike. The costs of those activities are varying, depending what level or distance you choose... But they are really fun! Overnight in Haghpat village. Day 5. We will visit famous Haghpat monastery, which is in the list of UNESCO Worlds Heritage, after that Odzun church, and from a village, next to Odzun we will start a cool nice hiking towards the ruined (renovated) Kobayr monastery, a hidden in the forests and a gorge. It's mostly downhill to a gorge, but the trail is pretty convenient. The views toward Debed canyon are just amazing! Hiking will be about 2 hours, and 2.5 km (depending on where we start..) After the hike, drive to Yerevan. On the way we will visit Saghmosavank monastery with a great view of Kasakh canyon!! Overnight in hotel in Yerevan. Day 6. Heading to the South today. First visit the best viewpoint of mount Ararat: Khor Virap monastery! After which the 2nd stop is Noravank monastery(13th cent), which is located in a breathtaking red rocky gorge! That is something completely different from what we saw before, in northern Armenia. After Noravank, we will have a (most probably) hot noon hiking up to Smbataberd Fortress(9-10th cent) and Tsakhats Kar monastery(10th cent)! That's about 4-5 hours of hiking (depending on each group's average speed, might take a little faster or longer.. also the hours are usually lunch picnic time included), about 9km. Elevation gain 400m. Overnight either in Yeghegis or Hermon. Day 7. Another nice hiking day. We will hike either to Martiros lake or to Artavan lake. Both are very nice! But we won't manage to the same day, as we have to drive further South towards Tatev and Goris. We will discuss which hike to do the night before (on Day 6). Tatev is just fantastic! One of the most famous, important, and beautiful places! I would say majestic! There we will take the Longest Continuous Ropeway in the World - Wings of Tatev. Overnight in Goris. Day 8.The longest driving day! But, many interesting sightseeings on the way, won't be boring for sure!:) First, we will visit the Old cave village Khndzoresk! Will do a short nice hike there, in the gorge, and walk through a cool hanging bridge! After that, we will head towards Selim pass and via lake Sevan back to Yerevan. On our way we will visit Shaqi waterfall, will do a hike to not famous but very interesting and important Sevsar petroglyphs old observatory, around 3 hours of hiking, 350 altitude change, then we will visit very unique and old Noratus cemetery, with more than 800 khachkars! After that back to Yerevan. Overnight in hotel in Yerevan. Day 9. After the long Day 8 this will be a lighter day:) we will visit 2 UNESCO world heritage places, Garni pagan temple and Geghard - the biggest rock-cut monastery in Armenia, also will see the famous Basalt Symphony in the Azat river gorge. Back to Yerevan. Free time. Farewell dinner! Overnight in hotel in Yerevan. Day 10. Transfer to the airport. Departure. Unfortunately, each trip has to come to an end! Acerca de Cannon Beach Sunrise or Sunset Photography Workshop I want to join Join me for a half-day photography workshop at one of Oregon’s most iconic coastal locations—Cannon Beach. Depending on your preference, we’ll head out early to capture a peaceful ocean sunrise or arrive later to photograph the golden glow of sunset behind Haystack Rock. This workshop is ideal for anyone looking to expand their skills in coastal landscape photography with personalized guidance in a stunning location. Itinerary Sunrise or Sunset Session at Cannon Beach Our photography session will center around the dramatic shoreline of Cannon Beach, where we’ll capture the changing light on the Pacific Ocean, the towering Haystack Rock, and reflections in the wet sand. During low tide, we’ll also explore the tide pools and rock formations for interesting foregrounds and compositions. Ecola State Park Viewpoints (Optional based on timing and weather) If time and light permit, we’ll visit one or two viewpoints at nearby Ecola State Park to shoot the coastline from above, offering a variety of wide-angle and telephoto compositions of sea stacks, forested cliffs, and the Pacific horizon. Within this program we will be climbing 2 highest peaks of Armenia: Mount Aragats (4090m) and Azhdahak (3597m). Well, geographically, Azhdahak is the 3rd highest, but as the 2nd one (mt. Kaputjugh) is located on the Armenian-Azerbajian border, where are military posts, it’s not possible to travel there, hence why Azhdahak is more popular considered as the next highest mountain after Aragats! Those are not technical climbings! No ropes or equipment needed. However, it can be considered as moderate, challenging. During the trip we will be hiking approx. 15km in a day on average, around 5-6 hours (including rest and lunch picnics). Overnights will be mainly in tents, except 2 days in Dilijan. Now, the best part! You don’t have to carry the heavy backpacks with tents, sleeping bacs and food etc. There were 2 offroad vehicles, which will be using mountain roads and get to our camping places before us! They will set up the tents for us, make a delicious food with some Armenian wine and fresh watermelons! Sounds great, right?! Equipment and outfit: Well, you will think the trip is in July, and it's very hot in Armenia at that time… yes and no.. :) It can be very hot in Yerevan, or even at lake Sevan. Sometimes even in the mountains under that harsh sun… But! Those are 3000m+ mountains! Please! Consider getting even under the snow and hail, with winds and fog! That weather is not unusual even at August! However, mid-July is the Best season there! Not a lot of snow like in May-June, and not dry and hot as in August-September. Some nice wild flowers, nice green, partly snow and beautiful views! But again! We never know the mountain weather… and it can be very changeable. We have to be ready!! Please have with you: Sleeping bag (for up to -10 C but won't be getting that cold, but may feel..) both warm and light clothes, winter coat, raincoat, gloves, winter cap and summer cap, hiking poles, good hiking/trekking boots which are waterproof! Sunglasses, sunscreen, and a small backpack or medium, probably max. 30-50L. Headlamp and a water bottle. Join the trip and let me know if any questions, and I will see you in July in Armenia! We need to get used to altitude, by gradually changing it. So first we will visit ancient Amberd fortress (2180 m), from where we will start our hike through alpine meadows toward lake Kari (Stone) 3200m. On the way we will see some local shepherds who are staying in the mountains the whole summer. Hiking distance about 14km, Altitude change over 1000m, duration 5-6 hours (including stops and lunch picnic). Overnight in tents down from Kari lake. 2 4x4 off road vehicles will organize the camping + a cook, so that we have a great comfort and food! July 10. Day 3. Summit day. Early morning start after breakfast. First climbing the South Peak, after which, depending on group's physical conditions and will, we will continue either West Peak or North Peak, and hike down towards Gegharot waterfalls till 2nd camp (2800m) in nice Gegharot valley, where our tents will already be set up and the food waiting for us. Hiking distance approx. 16km, altitude change 800-900m., hiking time approx.. 7-8 hours, depending on how much we rest on the route… sometimes we enjoy a short nap in the crater, if the weather permits. There is a great energy there, surrounded with those majestic peaks... Just incredible! Overnight in tents. July 11. Day 4. Hiking from our camps through Gegharot valley till Aragats village. Lunch stop with a tasty fresh watermelon 😊 then continue with a bus till Dilijan. Having a nice rest in one of the best BNBs in Armenia! Super convenient, amazing food and great hospitality by a local family! Overnight in BNB. Hiking distance approx.. 11km, around 3 hours, alt. change 800m. July 12. Day 5. Easy hike and fun day. Exploring Dilijan area and Tavush region. First we will visit Haghartsin monastery (10-13th cent.), after which continue to Yenokavan village, where we will hike one of the best places in that area, Lastiver gorge, with many caves, a waterfall, small houses on trees etc. Optional, Zipline and horse riding are available there with different levels and pricing options. Back to BNB in Dilijan. July 13. Day 6. Early morning breakfast. Heading to one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in Armenia, the Geghama mountains. It has a volcanic origin, with many summits with craters and crater lakes. On our way first quick stop will be Sevan lake and Sevanavank monastery, after which we will drive till Tsaghkashen village (2150m), from where our hike starts. Hiking till Akna lake(3030m), where our tents will be waiting for us, in camp 1. Dinner. Overnight. Hiking distance around 15-16km, 5-6 hours. Alt. change about 900m. July 14. Day 7. Summit day. Start from Akna lake. Climbing Mount Azhdahak (3597m). Azhdahak is the 3rd highest mountain in Armenia, geographically. But as the 2nd highest mountain is located in Armenian-Azerbaijan border, where is military and not permitted to climb, so theoretically Azhdahak became the 2nd highest and 2nd most popular mountain in Armenia, after Mount Aragats! Ajdahak has a very beautiful crater lake on its summit. After summiting, hike down till the slopes of Mt. Vishapasar (Dragon Mountain) where we have our Camp 2 (2900m). The tents and food waiting for us! 😊 Hiking distance around 15km, 6-7 hours. Alt. change about 560m. July 15. Day 8. Hiking down from the mountains till Geghard village (1915m). Around 15km, 3-4 hours hike, alt. change 1000m. From the village the bus will take us to Geghard Monastery (13th cent.), the biggest rock-cut monastery in Armenia, then Garni pagan temple (1st cent. !!) and back to Yerevan. Both Geghard and Garni are in the list of UNESCO World’s Heritage. Overnight in hotel in Yerevan. July 16. Day 9. Last day. Easy, cultural program for today, exploring some part of South-East Armenia, to see the landscape differences… First stop will be the best view point of Mt. Ararat (if we are lucky with weather), Khor Virap. After which will be wine degustation in Areni village and visit Noravank monastery in beautiful red rocky gorge. Lunch. Back to Yerevan. Farewell dinner. July 17. Day 10. Transfer to the airport. Departure. Unfortunately, each trip has to come to an end!
